The History of CASA BATLLO
Casa Batlló is located at number 43 on Paseo de Gracia, a street that, in the past, connected the city to Villa de Gracia, which today is a fully integrated district of the city.
The construction of Casa Batlló was initiated in 1877 but the renovation which gave the house it’s current appearance was done in 1904 by architect Antoni Gaudí. Josep Batlló, a wealthy industrialist, hired Gaudí for the renovation and the process which took four years gave life to one of the peculiar buildings in Barcelona. The façade alone is a visual feast, with its undulating forms, vibrant colors, and organic shapes.
THE FACADE
