2. ARISTOCRACY: PRIVATE PIRATES POSTER

This poster rendition of David LaChapelle’s Aristocracy: Private Pirates (2014), from the exhibition make BELIEVE, depicts three planes circling in colourful spirals of pink. This image, with the rest of LaChapelle’s Aristocracy series, certainly appears a dream. The Turner-like cloudiness, the nebulous intermix of sunrise and sunset colours that impress like a colour field painting if not the idyllic — LaChapelle produced these scenes by submerging model private jets into a large water tank and using tempera paint and gelled lights to create the clouds and colours. But the tragedy of planes crashing isn’t lost in all of this suffusion: with the circling confusion of these planes, LaChapelle comments on the race to destinations that are unattainable, the busyness of accumulation, and the journey of acquisition to a claustrophobia and ignition with no end. Size: 19.69″W 27.56″H (50×70 cm) Printed on 170g FSC-certified paper.

4. THE CHRYSLER POSTER

This poster reproduction of Anja Niemi’s image “The Chrysler” radiates an intense cinematic allure, at once iconic and yet mysterious. The raw, sun-baked desert landscape is at odds with the sleek, luxurious car upholstery and the glamorous, period hairstyles of the platinum blonde occupants. The obscured identities of the women imaginatively invites the viewer to enter the frame and continue the fantasy. Size: 19.69″W 27.56″H (50×70 cm) Printed on 170g FSC-certified paper.

5. BOTANIC GARDEN POSTER

From their series The City, featured in Fotografiska‘s 2024 exhibition Human/Nature, the Brooklyn team of Lori Nix and Kathleen Gerber produced this arresting image of a miniature botanical conservatory in a state of abandonment, where the exotic plants have begun to reclaim their environment, naturally redesigning the artificially cultivated greenhouse they find themselves in. In their meticulously modeled and photographed dioramas, Nix and Gerber propose urban environments devoid of humanity, where the grid of human design and scale subsides beneath the chaotic order of Nature. Here the rescaled elements in their architectural model appear, in some instances, to have expanded disproportionately, producing giant pitcher plants, seed palettes and amphibians, amidst the unruly, expansive growth. Nature will have the last word. Size: 19.69″W 27.56″H (50×70 cm) Printed on 170g FSC-certified paper.
